9 Simple, But Highly Effective Ways To Stay Healthy If You Work Around A Super Busy Schedule!

work-life-balance

Let’s face it; it’s also way easier to grab something from a vending machine than to whip up a salad or way harder to head for your gym class than to fulfil work commitments by putting in that extra hour at work.
Fortunately, there are ways to be both busy and healthy at the same time. It’s got more to do with being prepared and making small changes, rather than striving for an elaborate health plan.
Stay busy, but healthy at the same time

Start by incorporating a few of these tips/techniques and then gradually weave in what you can or what you need.

No time to squeeze in even a short workout? No problem, even a mini desk-exercise session will do!

Saying no physical activity is not an option in the long run as its bound to lead to some serious health complications. Fortunately, there is a whole host of exercises (like the ones shown in the video below) that can help keep your body healthy at your work desk.
Carry a protein/granola bar since its convenient

While eating natural food is a mandate if you want to become healthy, chomping on a granola bar now and then, especially on days when you are coerced into binging on junk or fast food because you don’t have a choice is far healthier.
You’re in luck if you have a job that allows you to take and make phone calls through the day; especially for you’re looking to lose weight.
Staying on your feet as much as possible while you work or speak on the phone is an excellent way to burn more calories, keep you energised through the day, and keep your metabolism revving.

If you’re someone who insists on eating healthy, but lacks the time, prepare in advance

Prepare snacks/meals in advance the night before. If that’s not possible, prepare your meals for the week over the weekend. You can store them in containers in the refrigerator or freezer (depending on the food item) and just grab them on your way out in the morning.
Sure they some of it may not necessarily taste fresh towards the latter half of the week, but it way healthier than eating out!

Avoid eating at your work desk. Instead, opt meetings or time for socialising during lunch

Several studies such as one in published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2013 has proven that eating while multitasking often leads to overeating because you remain distracted while chomping.
Either take a 10-15 break midday to have lunch or schedule an official meeting or a casual one with a friend or your co-workers. Come on now, we all have 10-15 minutes to spare!

Keep dark chocolate handy if you have a craving for sweets during the day

If you must indulge in some form savouries during the day, keep dark chocolate at hand.It helps keep afternoon and evening cravings at bay and gives you an energy boost.
Just make sure your stash is made of 70 percent or more of cocoa with not more than a minimal amount of sugar in it.

Wear a tracking device for an added dose of motivation

The fact that the app can show you your poor sleeping habits or how inactive you have been during the day can push you to take small steps during the day to better those numbers.
It works on the principal of first building awareness about your health and then makes you conscious enough to work around your schedule to do something about it.

Stop and breathe for 20 counts whenever you need to beat stress

Slow down, take a deep breath in and then exhale while counting to 20 in your head when stressed. Repeat this till you feel a sense of calm in your head. This will help you overcome the fight or flight response that usually follows stressful bouts and allow you to respond calmly to any situation.
This technique works perfectly for a big meeting or a lecture or any big moment that you might be about to encounter.
